Fish Farming

Our fish ponds are designed with sustainability in mind.

Sustainable Aquaculture in Action

Fish farming at Kaynela Farms is not just about production—it’s also about education.

At Kaynela Farms, we are committed to sustainable and innovative agricultural practices, and fish farming is an integral part of our operations. Our fish farming efforts focus on providing fresh, healthy fish while minimizing the environmental impact, ensuring that both our local community and the broader ecosystem benefit from our practices.

Fish farming, or aquaculture, is a highly sustainable method of food production that complements our overall farm operations. By integrating fish farming with our existing agricultural systems, we are able to maintain a closed-loop system that conserves water, produces less waste, and provides an additional source of high-quality protein for the local market.

Our Approach to
Sustainable Fish Farming

We use integrated systems that combine fish farming with our existing farming operations. This approach allows us to recycle water and nutrients between the fish ponds and our crop fields. The water from the fish ponds, rich in nutrients from fish waste, is used to irrigate crops, providing them with a natural fertilizer. This reduces the need for synthetic fertilizers while keeping the ponds clean and the water healthy for the fish.

To ensure the health of the fish and minimize the environmental impact, we use sustainable fish feed. Our feed is carefully selected to provide the necessary nutrients for the fish while reducing reliance on wild-caught fish for feed. We also experiment with alternative feed ingredients, such as plant-based proteins, to further lessen the ecological footprint of our operations.
